LINCOLN, Neb. – In their first meet of the new year, the Fort Hays State men’s and women’s track and field teams headed north to compete in the Graduate Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Throughout the two days of competition, the men earned four top-10 finishes, with the women claiming five. The highest finisher on either team was a runner-up time.<\/p>\n
Brett Meyer<\/a> is looking to get back to All-American status, and has started this season off strong. The senior capture second place in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:26.05. This time bettered his own school record.<\/p>\n Another high finisher for the men was Kolt Newell<\/a> who finished in fourth in the high jump. Newell posted a height of 6 feet, 6 inches to earn the top-five finish. Coming in close behind Newell was Lucas Broxterman<\/a> who earned sixth place in the same event with his own mark of 6 feet, 2 inches.<\/p>\n Rounding out the impressive finishes for the men was another distance runner, this time with Michael Eisenbarth<\/a> navigating the 5,000 meters in a time of 16:34.51. This time was strong enough for a ninth place standing for the junior.<\/p>\n On the women’s side, Lindsay Schupe had a solid weekend with a sixth place time in the 60 meters at 7.90. In the 600 meters, Peri Lange<\/a> earned seventh place in the event with her mark of 1:46.97. Lange also earned a 10th<\/sup> place time in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.45.<\/p>\n
