{"id":41777,"date":"2018-11-05T08:34:30","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T14:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=41777"},"modified":"2018-11-05T08:35:18","modified_gmt":"2018-11-05T14:35:18","slug":"wrestlers-finish-dan-harris-open-with-3-placers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=41777","title":{"rendered":"Wrestlers finish Dan Harris Open with 3 placers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION<\/b><\/p>\n<p>BALDWIN CITY, Kan. &#8211; The No. 17 ranked Fort Hays State wrestling team competed in the 10th Annual Dan Harris Open on Sunday (Nov. 4) and finished with three guys placing in their classes. <a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/dfecd1d1-8efa-444e-9b2b-04d3a956da2c?elinkdata=115985\">Isaiah Luellen<\/a> (165 pounds) and <a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/f961f66c-a543-44e8-a2ff-489903e8c091?elinkdata=115985\">Micquille Robinson<\/a> (184 pounds) captured titles while <a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/266adeda-5deb-442f-8d54-c75e2907e477?elinkdata=115985\">Devin Onwugbufor<\/a> grabbed a runner-up finish in the 133-pound class. All nine competitors wrestled unattached.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/44ebddd1-fbb6-4655-a860-bb3d971af1aa?elinkdata=115985\">Isaiah Luellen<\/a> started off his college career with a bye in the first round. In the second round of the 165-pound weight class, Luellen defeated Jensen McDermott of Benedictine by injury default. Luellen advanced to the semifinals after defeating Jason Watkins of Concordia (Neb.) with a 17-5 major decision. The Rossville, Kan. native then used an 11-9 decision over Kyle Caldwell of Nebraska-Omaha to earn a sport in the title bout. Luellen finished off his first collegiate open undefeated after posting a 7-6 decision victory over Dominique Evans of Midland in the championship match.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/b3c2ea94-5b56-4382-afd3-174826f481c0?elinkdata=115985\">Micquille Robinson<\/a> began his senior campaign on a good note with having a bye in the first round of the 184-pound weight class. In the second round, Robinson defeated Tyson Albright of Benedictine with a 10-5 decision. Robinson then used a 3-0 decision to defeat Joshua Nelson of Concordia (Neb.) to advance to the semifinal round. The Wichita, Kan. native then used a 3-1 sudden victory over Jacob Smith from Baker to earn a trip to the title bout. Robinson finished off a 4-0 start to his season by defeating Alex Kauffman from Nebraska-Omaha in a tight 4-3 decision victory.<\/p>\n<p>True freshman <a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/e82bb85a-ced6-4c3e-94b2-20787816fab1?elinkdata=115985\">Devin Onwugbufor<\/a> started off his collegiate wrestling career with a bye in the first round of the 133-pound weight class. In the quarterfinals, Onwugbufor advanced to the title bout after pinning Zane Baugh in 2:13. The Maize, Kan. native dropped the championship match to Boo Dryden of Nebraska-Omaha by a 16-5 major decision defeat to claim a runner-up finish.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers are back in action on Saturday (Nov. 10) as they will compete in the Bethany Swede Open in Lindsborg, Kan.
