Last Thursday\u2019s weekly Student Government meeting, a number of housekeeping issues were introduced first. In the search for the new FHSU Provost, an offer was extended to Dr. Jeff Briggs, although he declined the offer. As of now, the search for provost is closed. <\/span><\/p>\n

A new search has started for the Chief Communications Officer for Strategic Communications. Going forward, the current office of the University Relations and Marketing will be transitioning into the name of Office of Strategic Communications. There was a brief discussion on the news that Kansas State and Pittsburg State were having issues with mold. In response, the Environmental Safety Office has talked to the SGA and provided guidelines on preventing mold. <\/span><\/p>\n

SGA President Adam Schibi broke down the entire meeting to its basic components. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI discussed a few updates from the President\u2019s Cabinet: from enrollment, various groups of high school students will be coming to campus over the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for them. From the Kelly Center, over 150 personal counseling appointments were made this week, so students are utilizing it, and I encourage students to continue to utilize their services.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThree senators were installed: Natalie Miller (Freshman\/KAMS), Robin Ritsema (At-Large), and Michelle McPherson (College of Health and Behavioral Sciences). The Allocations Committee was formed, with Brad DeMers as Chair, along with the following Senators: Graham Applegate, Roy Koech, Kenton Lindsey, Michael Musgrove, Mariam Sears, and Kaytee Wisely. The October Student Leader of the Month is Colin Dujakovich, nominated by the Criminal Justice Club.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Schibi went on to frame the discussed topics in terms of the significance they pose for the campus as a whole.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStudents need to continue to utilize the Kelly Center Services,\u201d Schibi said. \u201cThe demand is high right now, but they are still being able to meet the demand. Community Relations Director Dougherty mentioned how important it is to take care of yourself, especially with mental health, during this time of the year. Aside from this, be on the lookout for Allocations information going forward.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n
