On Tuesday, April 17, Fort Hays State University hosted the annual Agricultural Day, otherwise known as Ag Day, in the Quad, just behind the Memorial Union. Originally known as \u201cBeef Day\u201d, Ag Day involves Agriculture of all kinds and organizations, including 4-H and the FFA.<\/p>\n
Kansas Farm Bureau President Richard Felts was in attendance during the great day of weather. When speaking to the bustling crowd, Felts asked how many FHSU students were studying agriculture. Several hands were raised, which he says looks promising.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it looks very promising when we have that many people that have an interest in the industry, are participating in the industry, and get an education in the industry,\u201d said Felts.<\/p>\n
Felts also shared his ideas of what Ag-Day is and what it means for the university.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Ag Day is an opportunity for everybody on campus here to get a better understanding of what agriculture has to offer, not only the industry but what this campus has to offer. If you go around here and it\u2019s a hands-on university,\u201d said Felts. \u201cYou go out from the production side, see what they have to offer from the agronomy side and from the livestock side…a lot of practicality in what this university is doing with the agriculture.\u201d<\/p>\n
