Photos courtesy FHSU SID<\/em><\/p>\n MANHEIM, Penn. – The Fort Hays State wrestling team had six individuals earn All-Academic honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association. In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, he must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.0 for those who qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. The athlete must also be in at least a second full year at his school, and have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.<\/p>\n Senior Rakim Dean<\/a>, juniors Dy’Juan Carney<\/a> and Micquille Robinson<\/a>, sophomores Brandon Ball<\/a> and Conrad Cole<\/a> and true freshman Brody Lewis<\/a> were all named to the All-Academic team.<\/p>\n Rakim Dean<\/a> earned All-Academic honors for his work within the Health and Human Performance realm. The Wichita, Kan. native completed his senior season with an overall record of 33-12 and went 29-7 against Division II opponents. Dean qualified for the NCAA DII Championships and was ranked No. 12 in the 197-pound weight class.<\/p>\n Dy’Juan Carney<\/a> earned a spot on the All-Academic team for his work within the Mathematics field. Carney completed his junior year with a 19-16 overall record, including a 12-12 clip among Division II competition.<\/p>\n Micquille Robinson<\/a> makes the All-Academic team for his dedication in the Technology Studies field. The junior finished the season with a 15-13 overall record.<\/p>\n Brandon Ball<\/a> earned All-Academic honors for his work within the Technology Studies realm. The Great Bend, Kan. native finished the year ranked No. 12 in the 141-pound weight class. He qualified for his second consecutive National Championships and finished the season with a 34-7 overall record and a 24-6 record against Division II opponents.<\/p>\n
