The American Music Awards is this Sunday, November 19, at 7 pm Central Time, on ABC. This year’s host is the star of the hit show “Black-ish”, Tracee Ellis Ross. This will be the first time an Emmy-nominated actress will host the awards. This is also a special night for Ross as well because her mom, Diana Ross, will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There are many contenders for this year’s Artist of the Year<\/em>; Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, the Chainsmokers, and Drake.<\/p>\n

An interesting thing to note about this award show is that Bruno Mars is nominated for over eight different awards.<\/p>\n

Favorite Artist – Adult Contemporary<\/em>
\nFavorite Song – Soul\/R&B: \u201cThat\u2019s What I like\u201d<\/em>
\nFavorite Album – Soul\/R&B: \u201c24k Magic\u201d<\/em>
\nFavorite Male Artist – Soul\/R&B<\/em>
\nFavorite Album – Pop\/Rock: \u201c24k Magic\u201d<\/em>
\nFavorite Male Artist – Pop\/Rock<\/em>
\nVideo of the Year: \u201cThat\u2019s What I Like \u201c<\/em>

All the nominees for Artist of the Year<\/em> are also nominated for five or more awards as well.<\/p>\n

We also see that New Music Artist of the Year<\/em> features artists Post Malone, Niall Horan, Julia Michaels, James Arthur, and Rae Sremmurd.<\/p>\n

The Favorite Hip\/Rap Album<\/em> and Favorite Hip\/Rap Artist<\/em> feature the similar nominees; Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Migos.<\/p>\n
