I am going to develop a program that empowers young women to discover and develop new skills they can take pride in that will carry over into a future career, and maintain a healthy level of self-confidence.

Dalton Steinert: I want to either be an accountant for a big tech company or do accounting for a book publishing agency.

What are your long-term goals?

Kandice Wright: 5 years from now I would like to have a corgi or a golden retriever, and a decent start on my retirement fund. I am also a very loyal person.

Dalton Steinert: I believe I am dedicated to people. If someone asks me to do something for them, you can guarantee I will try my hardest to make them happy. I’m a people-pleasing person, so making people smile and laugh and feel great with life if my forte. There’s all this negativity in the world, hatred, and violence, and I want to help those people out!

What is one thing people do not usually know about you?

Kandice Wright: I can twitch my nose like a bunny.

Dalton Steinert: I’m a secretive gamer, I love video games. My favorite video game is The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. I’ve played it for over one-hundred hours… and there’s still so much to do!

What are you most excited about homecoming?

Kandice Wright: My parents and grandparents are coming to town to support me, which is always fantastic. Campaigning is helping me to meet more FHSU students, and expand my campus family, which has also been a blessing.

Dalton Steinert: I love seeing how dedicated people are to FHSU. I love seeing the colors, the energy, and positivity, the spirit… that’s what the tiger family is all about.

What has been your greatest memory at FHSU?

Kandice Wright: My greatest memory would be my first week on campus. I had a chance for a fresh start, I was excited for all my classes, and I had made fast friends and gone through sorority recruitment. There were so many good things happening and I didn’t have to pay bills yet.

Dalton Steinert: My greatest memory is definitely meeting the people in my learning community my freshman year. Coming to campus and knowing a group of people helped me feel connected. My favorite part about this was our business service trip to St. Lucia in the Caribbean. Helping a developing country’s entrepreneurs start their businesses was very rewarding.

What are you involved in at FHSU?

Kandice Wright: At FHSU, I have been actively involved in Encounter, on the Leadership and Worship Teams, Delta Zeta sorority, and the Women’s Leadership Project.

Dalton Steinert: I am the president of my social justice service organization US 4 U. I am also involved in the Mortar Board honor’s society, the Student Chapter of the ACFE, I have also been an Orientation and Welcome Leader for two years. I help volunteer for different service opportunities on campus. I take part in the Writing Circle and I’ve also helped the Library and the English department with Banned Books Week.

Do you have any tips, words of advice to other aspiring student leaders?

Kandice Wright: Do not limit yourself. If you think you can’t do something – do it anyway and prove yourself wrong.

Dalton Steinert: To lead people, you have to make sure you are in the right mindset. Leading people is not easy, but the challenging experience is so rewarding. You have to be dedicated to what you’re trying to lead people towards. If you aren’t, how will you be able to motivate people for your cause?

Random Questions

Hilary Duff or Lindsay Lohan?

Kandice Wright: Definitely the Duff.

Dalton Steinert: I mean… I grew up kind of watching both of these stars (hey now, hey now… this is what dreaaaaammms are made of). If I had to choose one though, Lindsay has my vote mostly because I’ve watched more of her movies than I have Hilary’s (Mean Girls and Freaky Friday are two of my favorites from childhood!)

If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Kandice Wright: I’d like to be able to read, write, and speak in any language fluently. Or be able to grow whatever plant I wanted whenever I wanted it, that would shrink my grocery bill.

Dalton Steinert: I wanna be Superman, fly and be strong and have all these great powers…. Just kidding. That’s too much. I would love to have the ability to change people’s minds. Why? Cause there are some serious baddies in this world who need to progress their thinking.

What is your least favorite Disney movie?

Kandice Wright: My least favorite Disney movies is The Black Cauldron – it gave me nightmares for years.

Dalton Steinert: The Jungle Book 100%. For some reason, I’ve never been able to get into it… I don’t even like the bear guy!

Favorite genre of music?

Kandice Wright: Favorite music genre – Rock.

Dalton Steinert: Alternative rock!

Favorite holiday and why?

Kandice Wright: My favorite holiday is Christmas, because my family has more traditions for Christmas than any other holiday, and Christmas lights and decorations just make me incredibly happy.

Dalton Steinert: If Leap Day can be a holiday I would say leap day. Why? Because you can throw the BIGGEST party ever. It only happens once every four years! CELEBRATE!

Which building on campus would you go to first in a zombie apocalypse?

Kandice Wright: In case of a zombie apocalypse on campus, I would hole up in Custer Hall because you need a card to open many of the doors and I don’t think zombies will be about that business.

Dalton Steinert: I’m gonna give two places. First would be Rarick because of the stairs… and second would be Malloy, because that place IS. A.
