On Thursday afternoon at 4 pm, students, faculty, and community members gathered in front of Victor E. Village, Fort Hays State\u2019s new residence hall. Work began on the new facility in January of 2016, and the doors were finally ready to be opened for the 2017 fall semester.<\/p>\n

Victor E. Village is now home to students who wanted to be apart of learning communities. The 110,000 square-foot building is equipped with 406 beds, study rooms, and pod-style bathrooms.<\/p>\n

Victor E. Village is home to 17 Learning Communities that Fort Hays has to offer students. Emily Brandt, FHSU student body president, touched on the fact that these learning communities \u201care rich partnerships between academic affairs and student affairs, that I bet you would be hard pressed to find on any other campus across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victor E. Village was built to replace Wiest Hall, which is currently under demolition. Once Wiest Hall has been taken down, a 300-space parking lot will be built for students and sports fans who attend games.<\/p>\n
