The Institute for New Media Studies has an exciting opportunity for a graduate student to participate in campus projects and research in the areas of new technology, education, and civic engagement.\u00a0 The Institute has an advanced lab dedicated to investigating how new visualization and interactive technologies can be used to help the Tiger community and broader scholarly endeavors through learning and teaching.\u00a0 You can visit\u00a0www.fhsu.edu\/newmedia<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0@fhsu_newmedia<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter.\u00a0 Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply and do not need to be studying any subject in particular.<\/p>\n

Applications will be reviewed immediately and accepted until the position is filled, but\u00a0preference will be given to applications submitted by Sunday, August 20<\/b>.\u00a0 All applications received by this date will be considered.\u00a0 Applications received after this date may not receive full review if the position has already been filled.<\/p>\n

Finalists will be asked to interview for the position.\u00a0 Interviews will be scheduled as soon as possible but no later than August 25.\u00a0 The selected candidate is expected to start approximately August 28.<\/p>\n

Salary is $10,000 over a nine-month contract (the school year).<\/p>\n

About the Institute for New Media Studies:<\/b>
\nThe lab is located in Malloy Hall 106 and is overseen by the Director of the Institute for New Media Studies.\u00a0 Among others, the lab includes the following:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Workstations capable of 3D animation, gaming, visualization, and design.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0An advanced 55\u201d interactive multi-touch smart table running various visualization tools and supporting development of student-led projects.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0A large, classroom-sized projector capable of 3D movies, animations, etc.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a03D scanner capable of creating digital copies of physical objects.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a03D printer capable of creating physical objects designed by faculty and students at FHSU.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Robotics projects and various graphic design tools support many projects.<\/p>\n

Primary Responsibilities for this Position Include:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Schedule and hold regular lab hours in the Institute for New Media Studies lab in Malloy Hall 106.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Maintain a clean and professional work environment. The successful candidate will be expected to dress appropriately and may be required to wear an assigned FHSU branded shirt. If so, the shirt will be provided.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Learn to use equipment in the Institute\u2019s lab and participate in further development of Institute projects.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Ensure equipment is running correctly and report any technical problems to supervisor.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0Provide basic instructions and project support to faculty, staff, students who use the lab.<\/p>\n
