Fort Hays State Men’s Track and Field split up the squad and attended two events on Friday (Feb. 17). Some of the team traveled to Lincoln, Neb. to compete at the Nebraska Tune-Up while the other half went to Manhattan, Kan. to take part in the Steve Miller Open.<\/p>\n
In Lincoln, Dillando Allotey picked up provisional marks in the 400-meter run as well as the 200-meter dash. In the 400 meters, Allotey crossed the line fourth with a time of 48.63 seconds. That mark ranks 38th nationally. He then proceeded to win the 200 meters, defeating a trio of runners from the University of Nebraska with a time 21.44 seconds. The 200-meter time improved his provisional mark as he currently sits eighth in the nation with that time. The time was just .07 seconds short of Mike Appelhans’ school record.<\/p>\n
Jake Morrow took home fourth place in the pole vault and jumped all the way to 14th on the national performance list with a height of 16 feet, 4 inches.<\/p>\n
At the Steve Miller Open in Manhattan, Kyle Comstock and Aaron Voss each claimed runner-up honors in their respective events. Comstock finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.47 seconds. Voss picked up second place in the high jump when he leaped 6 feet, 2.75 inches.<\/p>\n
Now the Tigers will gear up for the MIAA Championships held next weekend (Feb. 24-26) at Missouri Southern in Joplin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
