{"id":2871,"date":"2013-09-16T22:10:17","date_gmt":"2013-09-16T22:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=2871"},"modified":"2014-12-10T10:59:32","modified_gmt":"2014-12-10T16:59:32","slug":"mens-and-womens-cross-country-both-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=2871","title":{"rendered":"Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Cross Country Both Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Hays State cross country teams were both represented well at the Romp at the Ridge in Hutchinson, KS as both teams would bring home first place finishes.<\/p>\n<p>The Fort Hays women\u2019s team almost completed a feat that is unheard of- a perfect score.\u00a0 The Tigers were just one point away from completing the perfect score of 15.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Ramsey McCarter won the 5,000 meter run in 20:07.40, followed by senior Marie Schaller (20:22.70) and senior Micki Krezesinski (20:24.20) would come in second and third for the team. Senior \u00a0Hanna Robinson&#8217;s was close behind coming in fourth at 20:26.60. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tigermedianet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/FHSU-WCC-Orteg.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2874 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/tigermedianet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/FHSU-WCC-Orteg-300x200.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"FHSU-WCC-Orteg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hutchinson&#8217;s Kaylah Romine snuck in at 20:36.70 to spoil the perfect score bid, just beating out senior Kylie Gaughan, who finished sixth in 20:40.00.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Hays was well represented down the board by others; junior Alex Nelson (20:44.70) and freshman Katey Whitesell (21:14.70) both placed within the top 10, finishing in seventh and 10th, respectively.\u00a0 The last two runners for Fort Hays were senior Jordan Ortega (21:38.00) in 14th, and junior Michelle Kleper (21:50.00) in 17th.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers won the meet by 60 points as Hutchinson game in second and Dodge City came in third.<\/p>\n<p>As for the men they were led and paced by sophomore Cory Keehn who finished second overall behind Colby\u2019s Chris Speek.\u00a0 Keehn would run 26:38:00 and was followed by five other Tigers all placing within the top 12.\u00a0 Senior Isaac Mills was third overall crossing at 36:50:00,\u00a0 junior Jonny Bernasky as came in at sixth ( 26:54:30), \u00a0freshman James Kadolph (27:56:30) was 10<sup>th<\/sup>, and senior Chris Ramsgard was 12<sup>th<\/sup> ( 28:04:40).<\/p>\n<p>Non-scoring runners for the Tigers were fourteenth junior \u00a0Nathan Purdue (28:22.40), eighteenth \u00a0sophomore Ryan Hopkins (28:27.40), twentieth \u00a0freshman Jason Foster (28:39.00), twenty-ninth senior Bentley Regerh (29:14.10) and thirtieth freshman Troy Wineinger (29:20.60).<\/p>\n<p>Fort Hays scored 26 points, 18 points of Colby at second and 84 points ahead of McPherson who came in third.<\/p>\n<p>Cross Country has a break before returning to competition.\u00a0 The Tigers are not in action again until Friday Sept.27 in Emporia, KS for the Hornet Invitational at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Hays State cross country teams were both represented well at the Romp at the Ridge in Hutchinson, KS as both teams would bring home&hellip;
