Every year Fort Hays State University\u2019s Sigma Tau Delta\u2019s Rho Psi chapter publishes a literary and arts journal titled <\/span>Lines From the Middle of Nowhere.<\/span><\/i> This journal accepts student\u2019s work from all different disciplines and allows them to have their original creations published and shared with others. This award-winning journal is the chapter\u2019s major project each year, and it showcases a large variety of work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lines From the Middle of Nowhere<\/span><\/i> is meant to capture the artistic and literary talent that Fort Hays State has to offer, and Sigma Tau Delta works hard to ensure that students\u2019 work is celebrated regardless of their field of study. Jera Gales, who is the editor of this year\u2019s edition, shared that the organization looks for original works by students in all departments. \u201cWe publish everything from prose and poetry to photography, paintings, and sculptures.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Gales added that the editorial board will have a meeting mid-April to decide which works will be published in the journal and that she hopes to have everything finalized by the end of this month. Students whose work is published will receive two copies of the journal. Others can pick up copies at the Back to School Picnic or from the English Department next fall. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sigma Tau Delta hopes that students who submit work or read <\/span>Lines From the Middle of Nowhere <\/span><\/i>are able to see what an incredible opportunity this journal offers them. \u201cI believe it is important that creative and original work is celebrated, and it needs to be recognized that Art majors and English majors are not the only people who partake in these types of expression.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLiterature and art, at least in my opinion, are the best markers of humanity, as these artistic forms strive to capture what it means to be a human during our day and age.\u201d Gales encourages people to see themselves within the pages and to realize the importance of what they are reading. \u201cI hope they feel. I hope they connect. I hope that <\/span>Lines From the Middle of Nowhere <\/span><\/i>both shows them a piece of themselves and a piece of someone else, something new.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
