Fort Hays State University\u2019s Greek life has been growing over the last several years, and with it so has Greek Week. Greek Week is filled with competition, philanthropy, costumes, chapter bonding, dancing, singing, and crafting all in spirit to bring together all of the sororities and fraternities on campus to create a strong Greek community. This week\u2019s events consist of:<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday, April 2 10:00 AM:<\/b> Themed Housing Groundbreaking, Lewis Field Parking Lot<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday, April 3 11:00 AM:<\/b> BBQ and Baseball, Hays Municipal Park and Larks Park<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday April 4 5:30 PM:<\/b> Obstacle Course Relay, Quad<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday April 5 7:30 PM:<\/b> Matt Roloff, Fort Hays Ballroom (Co-sponsored by University Activities Board)<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday April 6 5:00 PM: <\/b>Kickball, Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday April 7 7:00 PM: <\/b>Lip Sync, Beach-Schmidt Performing Arts Center<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday April 8 12:00 PM: <\/b>Canned Food Build, Pioneer Room <\/span><\/p>\n

As well as the daily competitions and events, there are some ongoing events throughout the week such as a banner competition in the quad, penny wars located in the Center for Student Involvement, letter check in, and a canned food drive. <\/span><\/p>\n

Greek Week has always been open for the public to observe, but for the first time this year other campus organizations were invited to compete in the lip sync competition on Thursday. Due to the growth of Greek life at FHSU and the popularity of the lip sync competition, locations have gone from Cody Commons, to the MU Ballroom, and now on to the biggest stage campus has to offer, Beach\/Schmidt. <\/span><\/p>\n

A recent initiate of Delta Zeta, senior, Monica Anderson says, \u201cI\u2019ve always watched lip sync in the past and thought that it was super cool to see people from campus performing outside of their comfort zone. It\u2019s always extremely entertaining and I cannot wait to perform on stage with my sisters this year!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme of the week this year is “Mount Olympus” so the Greek community will be reaching towards their roots to get inspiration for this year’s activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
