FHSU is hosting the 2nd Annual Business Invitational on February 26th in the Memorial Union. The event is hosted by Collegiate DECA, College of Business and Entrepreneurship, the Center for Economic Education, the Department of Applied Business Studies, and the Department of Management. <\/span><\/p>\n

The competition is open to all FHSU students. The highlight of this conference is the competition which requires participants to utilize problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, and communication. There are two categories for students to compete in, one being a group category and the other is an individual competition. Competitors will be given a test over their general area of study, and then a scenario to work on during their prep time before presenting. While presenting the judges assume the role of CEO for the hypothetical company. <\/span><\/p>\n

Last year the judges consisted of FHSU faculty but this year the judges will be members of the community who have experience in the business field. Katie Dorzweiler, the manager of Big Creek Crossing, will be one of the judges along with Adam Pray who started his own business in Hays. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>This is a neat opportunity and it\u2019s unfortunate that FHSU didn\u2019t have anything like this until last year. It gives students a chance to apply what they\u2019ve learned in their classes to real-world situations rather than just being tested on it; it gives them a chance to think outside of the box\u201d said Felix Albl, Event Coordinator and Kansas Collegiate DECA President. <\/span><\/p>\n
