\"sga_fundle_vote\"<\/a>This meeting of the Student Government Association was called to order on Thursday, October 29th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Black and Gold Room, Memorial Union on the campus of Fort Hays State University.<\/p>\n

Legislation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Old Business<\/em>: There was no old business at Thursday\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n

New Business<\/em>:\u00a0A reading of Bill No. 15\/F\/105 presented by the Office of the President regarding the Educational Opportunity Fund’s student members, and Bill No. 15\/F\/106 presented by the Senate Affairs Committee recommending to fill the empty senate seat with student Alyssa Steppe from the College of Arts and Sciences, took place at Thursday’s meeting.<\/p>\n

Reports<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Executive<\/em>:<\/p>\n

Vice President Molly Morgan shared that\u00a0the American Civil Liberties Union will be on campus in the\u00a0Black and Gold Room, Memorial Union at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 9th. Morgan also added, that applications for Higher Education Day are now open.<\/p>\n

Treasurer Jacob Taylor\u00a0informed senators that he is working towards obtaining debit card machines to allow for better fundraising methods for groups on campus.<\/p>\n

Campus Relations Director Rebecca Vincent gave out a senator spotlight to Sen. Emily\u00a0Brandt\u00a0for this week. Vincent is working on a committee that is restructuring freshman seminar classes. She also had the opportunity to meet with the University Student Relations Committee to \u00a0change the stigma of dead week, by the addition of success week. Vincent also mentioned that Time to Be a Tiger \u00a0will take place next week with hopes of gaining support.<\/p>\n

Community Relations Director Lizette Avalos discussed with senators updating their professional pictures next week.<\/p>\n

President Gonzalez,\u00a0Legislative Affairs Director Megaffin, and Chief of Staff Wiebe were not in attendance at Thursday’s meeting.<\/p>\n

Committee<\/em>:<\/p>\n

The Appropriations Committee plans on having a bill up for reading at next week’s meeting.<\/p>\n

The Senate Affairs Committee\u00a0discussed potentially adding the Pledge of Allegiance to the beginning of every SGA meeting.<\/p>\n

Student Relations and Involvement Committee did not meet this week.<\/p>\n

The Legislative and Political Action Committee, along with President Gonzalez,\u00a0met Tuesday with the FHSU Experience\u00a0and Opportunity Committee about a new fee increase. More information is to follow.<\/p>\n

Installation of New Members<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

No new members were installed at this meeting.<\/p>\n

Speakers\/Open Forum<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The mayor of Hays, Eber Phelps, came and talked at Thursday’s meeting to senators-\u00a0formally\u00a0welcoming them to Hays, and thanking them for their involvement on campus and in the community. Phelps encouraged students to get more involved with city committees and Hays Area Young Professionals. He also invited students to attend Real World 102 taking place on Tuesday, November 3rd in Cody Commons, Memorial Union at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Announcements<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

The following announcements were shared at last night\u2019s meeting:<\/p>\n

Stripes for Hope is hosting an event where students can purchase a white Cancer Sucks T-shirt, and tie-dye it. This event is to be held on Thursday, November 5th at 5:00 p.m. outside of McMindes Hall.<\/p>\n

There will be a Times Talk next Tuesday at noon in Forsyth Library covering the topic of social media.<\/p>\n

ADP and the Center for Student Involvement will be hosting a mock election next week through Tigerlink.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
