HAYS- Planned in conjunction with the closing reception of art professor Tobias Flores\u2019s sabbatical exhibition, 11 seniors of Art department chair Leland Powers\u2019 Studio 653 displayed various works of art for sale last Friday night (October 23).<\/p>\n
The official title of the course is Professional Development: Studio Art. The class id number is ART 653; hence the name Studio 653. This class was created around seven or eight years ago and was designed to introduce students to the art world beyond academia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe course is all about a professional experience,\u201d Powers explains. ART 653 is open to art students of all mediums; painting, drawing, sculpture, and everything in between.<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the sale will go to fund the seniors\u2019 exhibition and gallery walk on December fourth. \u201cThere are always expenses; every little bit helps,\u201d says Powers. A location for the gallery walk is yet to be determined.<\/p>\n
