HAYS, Kan. \u2013 A total of 102 minutes and 15 seconds passed before a winner could be determined in an MIAA match-up between Fort Hays State and Lindenwood on Friday evening (Oct. 2). Cassi Moosburger broke a scoreless tie with a goal in double overtime to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 shutout.<\/p>\n
In the second overtime, Taryn Schnell got a run up the right side of the field before crossing the ball to the middle of the field whereGabrielle Makatura found Moosburger for the game-winning strike. Schnell and Makatura both picked up assists on the play.<\/p>\n
Lindenwood goalkeeper Jordan Gnolfo took the hard-luck loss as she saved five shots in the match. FHSU’s Kristen Thompson moved to 4-3 between the pipes by saving four shots in her third shutout win of the season. The match was evenly contested, FHSU with 13 total shots to Lindenwood’s 11.<\/p>\n
The Tigers, now 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA, set their eyes on Sunday for a meeting with the No. 1 team in the nation. Central Missouri comes to town for an MIAA match at 11 am.
