HAYS, Kan. \u2013 Fort Hays State used all but 11 seconds of a match to find its first goal of the season, but it was a big one in a thrilling 1-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Friday (Sept. 4). Jordan Hester found the net at 89:49 to give the Tigers a win in their season opener.<\/p>\n
The wind played a huge factor in the match. With a strong south wind, FHSU battled against elements in the first half, but benefited in the second. FHSU was outshot 6-1 by SMSU in the first half, but turned the tables in the second with the wind for a 12-1 advantage. The 12th shot of the second half proved to be the winner as Cassi Moosburger found Jordan Hester about 20 yards out. Hester beat a defender and netted the ball in the bottom right corner with 11 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n
