Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society announced that 45 collegiate chapters earned the Silver Torch Award, an honor that is given to chapters that execute all national criteria and deadlines while promoting scholarship, leadership and meaningful service to their institutions. The award was presented to chapter delegates at the Society\u2019s national conference, held last month in Phoenix. \u201cThe Mortar Board National Council is pleased that so many collegiate chapters meet the standards of excellence that make for a significant presence on their campuses,\u201d said Jane Hamblin, executive director. \u201cThis is a point of pride for the administrators and faculty of the institutions that our chapters call home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Since its founding in 1918, more than a quarter of a million members have been initiated at 231 chartered chapters across the nation.
