The Tigers are the No. 1 seed on their home court for the regional<br \/>\nand are ranked No. 4 nationally.<\/p>\n<p>Three MIAA women&#8217;s basketball teams &#8212; all from Kansas &#8212; are in the<br \/>\nregional, and all three are also nationally ranked. No. 2 tournament seed<br \/>\nEmporia State is ranked 10th nationally, and Pittsburg State, the No. 3<br \/>\ntournament seed, is ranked 13th nationally.<\/p>\n<p>FHSU&#8217;s first-round game will be against No. 8 seed Minnesota State<br \/>\nUniversity-Mankato, scheduled for <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_2122422476\"><span class=\"aQJ\">5 p.m. Friday, March 13<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>All tickets for the tournament will be general admission. Sales begin at<br \/>\nnoon Tuesday, March 10. Prices are $10 per day for adults and $5 for K-12<br \/>\nstudents. Admission for FHSU students is free with a valid student ID, said<br \/>\nSports Information Director Ryan Prickett.<\/p>\n<p>Gates open an hour before game time.<\/p>\n<p>The first round begins at noon Friday, March 1, when Pittsburg State plays<br \/>\nNo. 6 seed Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D.<\/p>\n<p>At <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_2122422477\"><span class=\"aQJ\">2:30 p.m.<\/span><\/span>, Emporia State plays No. 7 seed Arkansas Tech University,<br \/>\nRussellville.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers and Minnesota-Mankato are up next, at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_2122422478\"><span class=\"aQJ\">5 p.m.<\/span><\/span> The final game of<br \/>\nthe first round, at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_2122422479\"><span class=\"aQJ\">7:30 p.m.<\/span><\/span>, features No. 4 seed Wayne State University,<br \/>\nWayne, Neb., against No. 5 seed Harding University, Searcy, Ark. Martin, FHSU president, predicts the regional tournament will<br \/>\nbe a great event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This group of student-athletes has already enjoyed phenomenal success<br \/>\nunder Coach Tony Hobson and assistants Talia Miller and Kelsie Sorenson,&#8221;<br \/>\nshe said. &#8220;They ran away with the conference championship over the long<br \/>\ngrind of the regular season, finished second in the conference tournament<br \/>\nand they&#8217;re ranked No. 1 in the Central Region. They play with heart, they<br \/>\nsupport each other, and they exemplify excellence at its best.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added, &#8220;They are also just a whole lot of fun to watch. Wear your Tiger<br \/>\ngold, and let&#8217;s pack Gross Coliseum <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_2122422484\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Friday<\/span><\/span> night to cheer them on to<br \/>\nanother victory. Roar, Tigers!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a privilege to host an NCAA event, and this rewards the success for<br \/>\nour women&#8217;s program for this season,&#8221; said Curtis Hammeke, athletic<br \/>\ndirector at FHSU. &#8220;It&#8217;s a very, very exciting event, one that will bring<br \/>\neight teams from across the region to town.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to host, because you have to earn that No. 1 seed,&#8221; said<br \/>\nHammeke. &#8220;So it was a great job by our women&#8217;s basketball program to play a<br \/>\nlot of good basketball the past month to keep themselves in position to<br \/>\nhost. I&#8217;m very happy that it came to fruition that we have the opportunity<br \/>\nto host.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The FHSU Alumni Association will host Tiger Spirit pregame parties in Eagle<br \/>\nCommunications Hall, located inside of the Robbins Center, throughout the<br \/>\ntournament, pending advancement.<\/p>\n<p>Parties will feature family-friendly events and complimentary refreshments,<br \/>\n&#8220;adult and kid beverages, prizes and visits by the FHSU cheerleaders, Tiger<br \/>\nDebs, Pep Band and Victor E. Tiger,&#8221; according to a statement from the<br \/>\nAlumni Association.<\/p>\n<p>All parties are free to attend but RSVPs are requested to ensure enough<br \/>\nfood and seating.
