Fort Hays State University men’s basketball heads to Oklahoma for a pair of games this week, looking to host an Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament Opening Round home game on Monday<\/span><\/span>. Should the Tigers secure home-court advantage, the game on Monday<\/span><\/span> will be held at 7 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>at Gross Memorial Coliseum.<\/p>\n

The Tigers are currently eighth in the MIAA standings with a conference record of 9-8. FHSU can finish no better than 11-8 in conference play. The Tigers could still finish anywhere between fifth and ninth in the MIAA standings going into their final two games. Seeds 5 through 8 will host opening round tournament games on Monday<\/span><\/span> against seeds 9 through 12.<\/p>\n

Seeing Scenarios<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

The Tigers would lock up a first-round home game by going 2-0 this week, but would have to get help if they go 1-1. Washburn is currently ninth in the MIAA standings at 9-9 and has just one game remaining, hosting Pittsburg State on Saturday<\/span><\/span> in Topeka. If the Tigers go at least 1-1 on the week and Washburn loses, the Tigers would still lock up an opening round home game. There are other possible ties that could happen at 10-9 in the conference should FHSU go 1-1 and Washburn win as well, so the picture is not completely clear until games take place on Wednesday<\/span><\/span> and\u00a0Thursday<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

If the Tigers go 0-2, the result of the Washburn game would not matter and the Tigers would go on the road for the opening round due to the tie-breaking process, which the Tigers do not have an advantage head-to-head with Washburn.<\/p>\n
