Fort Hays State University men’s track and field turned in a solid effort at the Concordia University Invitational on Thursday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in Seward, Neb. Four FHSU athletes won their respective events and three athletes set records.<\/p>\n

Michael Kinuthia, a transfer to FHSU at semester from Colby Community College, set a new school record in the 600 meter run. He ran a time of 1:21.48 to top the old record of 1:23.48, set by Logan Garrett<\/a><\/dfn> in 2014. He finished second in the race, clipped at the line in a photo finish by just .01 seconds.<\/p>\n

Setting a new field house and meet record in the 3,000 meters was Jonny Bernasky<\/a><\/dfn>. He won the race in a time of 8:30.30. Fellow distance runner Cory Keehn<\/a><\/dfn> set a new meet record in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:14.93. Jacob Thomas<\/a><\/dfn> kept FHSU dominant in the distance events, winning the 5,000 meters in a time of 15:40.85.<\/p>\n

Dillando Allotey<\/a><\/dfn> was victorious for the Tigers in the 200 meters with a time of 22.44 seconds. Brady Tien<\/a><\/dfn> finished second in the pole vault with a provisional height of 16’6″, but it did not improve on his previous best mark for the season. He still ranks fourth nationally.<\/p>\n
