{"id":16404,"date":"2014-11-28T15:50:46","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T21:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=16404"},"modified":"2014-11-24T16:09:33","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T22:09:33","slug":"experience-christmas-past-at-historic-fort-hays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=16404","title":{"rendered":"Experience Christmas past at historic Fort Hays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next weekend the Fort Hays State Historic Site is set to give visitors a slightly different look at Christmas by showing what the holiday looked liked during the time Fort Hays was operational, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The event will show &#8220;all of the Christmas festivities the soldiers were able to enjoy while serving at Fort Hays,&#8221; according to the Kansas State Historical Society, the organization that oversees Fort Hays.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Visitors can enjoy the officers\u2019 homes decorated in the Victorian style, candlelit walkways, a model train exhibit, horse-drawn wagon rides, and a live performance of Christmas carols. Father Christmas will greet children,&#8221; according to the KSHS.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Hays is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, excluding most state holidays.
