Fort Hays State University’s Department of Music and Theater presents “Hello Dolly” Oct. 2 through Oct. 5 in Felton Start Theater located in Malloy Hall.<\/p>\n
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The play follows matchmaker, Dolly Levi as she takes a trip to Yonkers, New York to see the “well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire,” Horace Vandergelder. A widow, Dolly finds herself in love with a “half-a-millionaire” Yonkers merchant named Horace Vandergelder. She proceeds to weave a web of romantic complications involving him, his two clerks, a pretty milliner and her assistant. Eventually, of course, all is sorted out, and everyone ends up with the right person.<\/p>\n
This musical is one of the most recognizable performances that has ever been on Broadway, with more than 2,800 performances and 10 Tony Awards, a record that held for 35 years.<\/p>\n
Tickets can be purchased at the box office before each performance. Tickets for individual performances are $15 for the public and $10 for students K-12, FHSU students and senior citizens 55 and up. Season passes for all four productions for the general public is $50, $30 for senior citizens and $25 for students.<\/p>\n
