Brewing Co. as a part of New Beer&#8217;s Eve festivities.<\/p>\n<p>The FHSU Jazz Band consists of a five member ensemble.<\/p>\n<div class=\"otw-sc-toggle\"><h3 class=\"toggle-trigger widget-title closed\">Members of the Jazz band<span class=\"icon\"><\/span><\/h3><div class=\"toggle-content\"><p><br \/>\n<ul><br \/>\n<li>Corey Huggins, Arlington senior, on guitar<\/li><br \/>\n<li>Michael Walker, Parsons senior, on drums<\/li><br \/>\n<li>Matt Rome, Hays senior, on saxophone<\/li><br \/>\n<li>Cameron Shoemaker, Lawrence senior, on bass<\/li><br \/>\n<li>Justin Blundel, Dodge City senior, on trumpet.<\/li><br \/>\n<\/ul><br \/>\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I picked up my first clarinet in sixth grade, I realized that this is something I could do for the rest of my life,\u201d Rome said. \u201cI later taught myself to play saxophone and pursued that so I could play jazz. I&#8217;ve made a lot of connections through jazz and met a lot of people because of it. It\u2019s an art form like no other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FHSU Jazz Band stated that they represent Kansas Next Step, an organization that sponsors and provides local gigs for the band. The love and passion for music is what motivates the band members to keep playing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe real reason I got into music was because it\u2019s the only place where I have friends,\u201d Huggins said. \u201cIt\u2019s actually pretty rewarding and pretty challenging. I encourage anyone to get into music.
