The Sternberg Museum has had its rattlesnake exhibit \u201cRattlerssss: From Fear to Fascination\u201d for 14 years. However, in October, the museum announced that the rattlesnake exhibit would end due to financial constraints. Additionally, the museum said the rattlesnakes had grown older and required specialized care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the exhibit closure, the snakes will be moved to different locations to receive the care they need. Sternberg Museum Manager of Visitor Services, Brad Penka, said that 31 rattlesnakes will be moved to the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary in Arizona, and the remaining 2 will be reunited with former Collection Manager Jackson Roberts at his new institution in Virginia. Penka also said that because the snakes’ health declines as they get older, they would have had to be moved in the future anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
