Anyone on the FHSU campus looking out their classroom window has likely seen a long line of students marching to and from class and enjoying the \u201ccool\u201d 110-degree weather. There are a number of ways FHSU Tigers choose to travel to and from class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the most basic and effective way to travel on campus is walking. It may not be the most popular way to get around campus, FHSU student like Cassie Williams Valdez has a different view on the matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI personally like walking around,\u201d she said while walking around campus with her friend, Liz. \u201cI like to get my steps in during the day. But when I am carrying heavy items, it can make it uncomfortable and unenjoyable. I’m glad we do live on a walking campus, but its been so hot it makes you want to not be outside in general, walking around or doing anything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another popular way to get around campus is by electric scooter.  They are fast, fun and have a much easier time finding parking than cars. Julius Emevinye is an FHSU student who takes advantage of riding a scooter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUsing my scooter feels good because sometimes it\u2019s too hot outside to walk, and on my scooter I am able to go fast and get to my destination quicker,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said he isn\u2019t worried about parking or security when leaving his scooter to go to class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have locked up my scooter all year,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can park almost anywhere on campus because every place has a lock site outside.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While walking and scootering around campus are easy options, driving is not so easy. With the low likelihood of finding a good spot to park near your destination, driving can be a hassle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI understand there\u2019s limited parking on campus, but it doesn\u2019t make a lot of sense to me that the parking by Hammond Hall is zoned for dorm resident parking when that building has a student population that needs access to that lot every day for their classes,\u201d Trier said. \u201cOftentimes, students exclusively have classes in that building, and cannot park there because students attending different parts of the university are told to park there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FHSU is also a bike-friendly campus with bike racks at most academic buildings and residence halls. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
