The USD 489 Board of Education met on Monday and reviewed a marketing partnership proposal for Hays High School. This marketing partnership would generate revenue to offset the cost of the video scoreboards for the football field and main gym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal has three tiers of investment: Premier, Anchor and Super Anchor. All three levels require a three-year commitment. <\/p>\n\n\n

Once the cost of the scoreboards is recouped, the additional revenue will go into the capital outlay fund. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll of the marketing programs, those revenues, all of that will be managed through the central office and will go back into capital outlay,\u201d Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Chris Hipp said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there is a company that will help with the setup of the scoreboards, the boards will be operated by Hays High\u2019s video production class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe class will update the marketing and run the commercials and all that stuff,\u201d Hipp said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hipp said Hays Middle School has conducted a similar marketing campaign and the money was used to purchase new wrestling mats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest differences between the Hays High School proposal and the Hays Middle School marketing campaign is that the middle school signage was all static advertisements, whereas the Hays High Marketing campaign utilizes more digital options, which will make it easier to switch ads every three years. Since the middle school signage was static, the contract terms were 10 years instead of three. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 10 years, we\u2019ll probably do it differently, we\u2019ll probably do more like we\u2019re doing at the high school, but again, that was done for a very specific purpose of raising money to purchase those mats,\u201d Hipp said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The marketing proposal was approved unanimously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
