PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Fort Hays State track and field teams capped off the final day of the MIAA Indoor Championships with several strong performances, highlighted by a record-breaking run from\u00a0Emily <\/a>Diercks in<\/dfn> the women’s 3,000-meter race. Both the men’s and women’s teams secured seventh-place finishes, with the men totaling 36 points and the women earning 35.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diercks delivered the highlight of the day, rewriting her own school record in the 3,000m with a blistering time of 9:49.27. Her third-place finish secured All-MIAA honors and marked her second All-MIAA performance of the weekend. In addition to setting a new program best, Diercks hit an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark, further solidifying her place among the top distance runners in the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men’s pole vault, Jacob Clark<\/a><\/dfn> continued his dominance in the event, clearing 17-0.00 to place second and secure All-MIAA recognition. His performance also met the NCAA national qualifying standard. Teammate Josiah Ball<\/a><\/dfn> added to the team’s point total, finishing seventh after clearing 15-6.25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the track, Hayden Albright<\/a><\/dfn> delivered a pair of scoring performances in the sprints. He placed sixth in the 200m finals with a time of 21.71 and finished eighth in the 400m, clocking in at 47.95, an NCAA qualifying mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Hayden Albright<\/a><\/dfn>, Avrey Albright<\/a><\/dfn>, Drew Tolar<\/a><\/dfn>, and Nolan Churchman<\/a><\/dfn> delivered a strong performance, clocking a time of 3:12.29 to secure a third-place finish. Their effort earned All-MIAA honors and a provisional NCAA Division II national qualifying mark. The women’s 4×400-meter relay team of Reba Mader<\/a><\/dfn>, Amelia Foster<\/a><\/dfn>, Makenzie Premer<\/a><\/dfn>, and Eden Bathurst<\/a><\/dfn> closed out the weekend with an eighth-place finish in 4:01.44.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mader added to the team’s scoring efforts with a seventh-place finish in the 400m finals, clocking in at 56.84. Meanwhile, Bathurst impressed in the 800m, securing fifth place with a time of 2:19.46 and earning four crucial points for the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the women’s triple jump, Jayme Hagerman<\/a><\/dfn> earned a seventh-place finish with a mark of 37-8.50, earning a pair of points to the women’s total. The Tigers also saw strong efforts in the men’s and women’s distance races. Christian Darrah<\/a><\/dfn> placed 13th in both the mile and the 3,000m. In the throws, Liberty Booker<\/a><\/dfn> and Emma Slade<\/a><\/dfn> represented the Tigers in the shot put.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With three All-MIAA performances on the women’s side, two on the men’s side, multiple national qualifying marks, and three new school records set, Fort Hays State capped off a strong showing at the conference meet. The Tigers now shift their focus to the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, set for Thursday through Saturday (March 13-15), where select athletes will have the opportunity to compete on the national stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
