KEARNEY, Neb. – The Fort Hays State men’s wrestling team dropped its final dual of the season on Friday (Feb. 14), losing at fourth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney 40-12. The Tigers finish the regular season 5-6 overall and 2-3 in MIAA duals, while the Lopers are now 10-7 on the year and 4-1 in league action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A.B. Stokes<\/a><\/dfn> gave the Tigers an early lead with a pin at 125 pounds. The redshirt-freshman rattled off three takedowns before securing the pin 1:33 into the second period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nebraska-Kearney bounced back with three-straight bonus-point wins, including two pins and one technical fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcell Dely<\/a><\/dfn> helped the Tigers pull within 17-12 with a pin of his own at 157 pounds. The sophomore fell behind early in the first period but struck early in the second period with a strong takedown and throw to pin his opponent in 4:30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lopers then finished the evening with wins in each of the last five matchups, including four bonus-point wins. The marquee matchup at 197 pounds of No. 11 Tereus Henry<\/a><\/dfn> and No. 5 Jackson Kinsella went to the Lopers via a 5-3 decision after takedown midway through the final period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers will next travel to Gunnison, Colo. for the 2025 NCAA Division II Super Region VI Championships on March 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
