The Kansas City Chiefs will attempt to accomplish the unprecedented NFL \u201cthree-peat\u201d in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. The Chiefs earned their fifth appearance in the big game in seven years after a franchise record 15-2 regular season and narrowly defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game 32-29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many Fort Hays students have plans to watch the game with others as they anticipate the excitement around what could be a historic achievement. They also plan to celebrate if it happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI usually watch it with friends,\u201d Business major Tim Post said. \u201cThis year, I\u2019m probably going to invite some people over to my place. I might have a biggish Super Bowl party since it could be a historical event if they win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post expects the game to be a close match-up like the Chiefs\u2019 previous games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Chiefs and Eagles are both talented teams,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, I think it\u2019ll be a close game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Web and Mobile Development major Minhaj Ahmed also plans to watch it with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI plan to watch it with friends and family in the dorms,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely going to be special because It\u2019s going to be historical if they do it. We\u2019re rooting for the Chiefs to bring it home for a third time. If they do that, I\u2019ll go outside and run with my shirt off!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Radiology major Brittany Lomas plans to watch the game with others elsewhere instead of in the dorms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMe and my boyfriend are going over to my friend\u2019s house and just eat food, watch the game, and watch the commercials,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m not a big Football fan, but I think it\u2019s going to be pretty cool if the Chiefs win three years in a row.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike other students, she plans to go about her day as usual if the \u201cthree-peat\u201d is achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ll celebrate,\u201d Lomas said. \u201cI\u2019ll probably just celebrate like it\u2019s a regular day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports Management major Sage Stoecklein had previously attended the Super Bowl the past three years but will watch it at home this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very enjoyable,\u201d he said. \u201cThe first time, it\u2019s weird seeing that big of a game compared to your normal regular season game. Once I got adjusted, it was just another yearly thing for me to do. It was cool to see the different teams, especially the Chiefs, the past two years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While not a Chiefs fan, Stoecklein enjoys watching it as an enthusiast of the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll find a friend or sit back and watch it on my couch in my home. Ultimately, I\u2019ll just hope it\u2019s a good game at the end of the day. I feel like it\u2019ll be a buzz here in Hays, but I don\u2019t know if it\u2019ll be nearly as exciting as people in Kansas City will be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaden Stauffer, a Graphic Design major working at Tomanek Hall, notices many students are hyped for the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA lot of my friends will be watching it together,\u201d he said. \u201cI know organizations are hosting watch parties for it. The majority of people I know here are Chiefs fans, so I think the energy would be high, but to see the three-peat would be insane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
