The Phi Kappa Phi chapter at Fort Hays State University is no exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New members who have shown academic excellence and have accepted the invitation to join will be celebrated at an induction ceremony April 27 in the Memorial Union.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current FHSU students can connect with and learn more about Phi Kappa Phi before the induction ceremony in the upcoming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phi Kappa Phi Week, Feb. 3-7, is a national, week-long event during which Phi Kappa Phi spreads awareness about the organization. Throughout the week, the Phi Kappa Phi officers will host a table in the Memorial Union where students can stop by to ask questions and learn more about the honor society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following week, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 11, there will be an information session about Phi Kappa Phi in McCartney Hall 104. Gift certificates and other prizes will be awarded at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Phi Kappa Phi\u2019s initial founding in 1897, it has grown to have more than 300 chapters, including the one at Fort Hays, which was established in 1954.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The motto of Phi Kappa Phi is Philosoph\u00eca Krate\u00ecto Phot\u00f4n, \u201cLet the love of learning rule humanity\u201d succinctly describes the goal of Phi Kappa Phi to encourage and celebrate a love of learning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the importance of learning, Phi Kappa Phi values service to one\u2019s community and others around them. Members and individuals considered for membership are expected to display this service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admittance into Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation sent via email and mail to eligible juniors, seniors and graduate students. Juniors who are in the top 7.5% of their class and have completed at least 72 credit hours are eligible. Seniors who are in the top 10% of their class and have completed at least 90 credit hours are eligible. Graduate students who are in the top 10% of their class and have completed at least 18 graduate hours are eligible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the benefits with joining Phi Kappa Phi include a variety of available scholarships.
