INDIANAPOLIS – The Fort Hays State men’s wrestling team placed 37th across two days of action at the 45th Midwest Classic this weekend (Dec. 14-15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A pair of Tigers picked up a win in their first action in the championship bracket, with A.B. Stokes<\/a><\/dfn> (125) racking up four takedowns and four nearfall points in a 20-2 technical fall victory. Stokes finished the tournament with a 1-2 record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tereus Henry<\/a><\/dfn>, the eighth-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds, later won his first bout of the weekend with a third-period pin to advance in the championship bracket. The former All-American then moved on to the quarterfinals with a 4-0 decision thanks to a third-period takedown. Henry advanced to Sunday’s competition, where he lost his next two bouts to finish the weekend at 2-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite dropping his first bout of the weekend, Connor Padgett<\/a><\/dfn> battled back to secure a pair of bonus-point victories in the 174-pound consolation bracket.
