GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Fort Hays State Women’s Wrestling had a strong showing at its first tournament of the 2024-25 season on Saturday (Nov. 2).\u00a0Isabella Renfro<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0was champion of the 180 class, while six other Tigers posted runner-up finishes in their respective classes. Overall, the Tigers had 20 top-six placers out of the 23 individuals competing in the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renfro maintained her undefeated record for the season at 180 after a pair of dual wins the night before. She dominated with four-straight falls to win her class in times of 52 seconds, 2:29, 47 seconds, and 3:18. She defeated Katie Law of Utah Tech in the final. All of her opponents were from NCAA schools. Renfro is now 6-0 on the season after her first collegiate tournament title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The six runner-up finishers included Lindsey Lopez<\/a><\/dfn>(117), Lexie Lopez<\/a><\/dfn> (124), Jamie Laswell<\/a><\/dfn> (131), Nichole Moore<\/a><\/dfn> (138), Kaylee Ricketts<\/a><\/dfn> (160), and Ciara Monger<\/a><\/dfn>(207). Laswell and Ricketts wrestled the most matches of this group, both going 4-1 on the day. Laswell recorded two falls, a tech fall, and a decision on her way to the final, where she lost by fall to Kaidence Gerg wrestling unattached. Ricketts had a pair of decisions and a pair of falls before dropping a tight 6-4 decision to Gretchen Donnaly of Colorado Mesa in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lopez sisters and Moore all went 3-1 on the day, while Monger was 2-1 for the day. Lindsey Lopez<\/a><\/dfn>recorded a pair of tech falls and a decision before being on the short end of an 11-0 tech fall by Alexis Hanks of Texas Woman’s in the final. Lexie Lopez<\/a><\/dfn> recorded three-straight tech falls before dropping the final by tech fall to Tiare Ikei of Titan Mercury Wrestling Club. Moore recorded three-straight tech falls before being on the short end of a 9-7 decision to Corrie Williams of Adams State in the final. Monger picked up her two wins by fall before losing 10-3 to No. 4 ranked Jayleen Sekona of Colorado Mesa in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashlynn Goodwin<\/a><\/dfn> (5-1, 3rd<\/sup> at 138), Sophia Shultz<\/a><\/dfn> (3-1, 3rd<\/sup> at 110), Hailey Conley<\/a><\/dfn> (3-1, 3rd<\/sup> at 207), Hannah Selle<\/a><\/dfn> (3-2, 4th<\/sup> at 103), Addison Broxterman<\/a><\/dfn> (4-2, 4th<\/sup> at 131), Isabell Ortiz<\/a><\/dfn> (3-2, 4th<\/sup> at 117), Dylen Ritchey<\/a><\/dfn> (3-2, 4th<\/sup> at 138), Josiah Ortiz<\/a><\/dfn> (4-2, 5th<\/sup> at 117), Amanda Jaeger<\/a><\/dfn>(4-2, 5th<\/sup> at 131), Ivy Davis<\/a><\/dfn> (4-2, 5th<\/sup> at 138), Arianna Ortiz<\/a><\/dfn>(3-2, 5th<\/sup> at 103), Grace Johns<\/a><\/dfn> (2-2, 5th<\/sup> at 207), and Alexis Burton<\/a><\/dfn> (3-3, 6th<\/sup> at 145) were the other Tigers with placements in the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
