The Fort Hays State track and field program picked up three provisional marks Friday, at the first FHSU Spring Invite hosted at the Brickle-Schmidt Sports Complex in Hays, Kan. Sophomore standout Annabeth Baalman vaulted her way into yet another school record. She now holds the record in both indoor and outdoor women’s pole vault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers were able to finish with four champions on the day, with a plethora of top five finishes. Trever Medina<\/a><\/dfn> was able to finish first in the men’s 800 meter for completing the event in 1:54.32. Ethan Lang<\/a><\/dfn> and Aaron Mangan<\/a><\/dfn> finished close behind for the 1-2-3 Tiger finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaycee Vath<\/a><\/dfn> won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:54.52. Regan Hodsden<\/a><\/dfn>, junior long-distance runner, finished close behind, finishing in fourth. Maggie Remsberg<\/a><\/dfn>, representing the Tigers in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, finished on top for completing the event in 14.84. The Tigers last winner of the day was senior thrower Addie Berens<\/a><\/dfn>. Berens won the women’s javelin throw for throwing the javelin 147-11.0 feet, a provisional mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toby Wahlmeier<\/a><\/dfn> finished the day off with two new personal bests, one for finishing third in the 100-meter dash and the other for finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Kinley Brown<\/a><\/dfn> notched a personal best as well in the women’s 200-meter, where she finished in third with a time of 24.89. The 1,500-meter men saw themselves finish 2-3-4 after Ethan Fisher<\/a><\/dfn>, Jaret Pfizenmaier<\/a><\/dfn>, and Lucorien Deboest crossed the finish line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tiger pole vaulters had themselves a day, with Baalmann notching yet another school record to start her historic sophomore season. On the men’s side, Brady Deges<\/a><\/dfn>, sophomore from Montezuma, Kan., finished with a vault of 15-10.25, a new personal best. Kurtis McCormick<\/a><\/dfn>, sophomore from Eudora, Kan., finished third in the men’s pole vault for vaulting 15-4.25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jumps were successful, as a Tiger finishes second in men and women long jump and triple jump. Keamonie Archie<\/a><\/dfn> jumped a wind aided national qualifying mark, while Jayme Hagerman<\/a><\/dfn> and Abby Rueschoff showed out on the women’s side. Freshman Kyreese Groen<\/a><\/dfn> competed in his first collegiate event, triple jumping to a second-place finish, and finishing top five in the long jump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a successful FHSU Spring Invite, the men’s and women’s teams will embark on separate journeys, with some athletes competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Missouri, and the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Nebraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
