{"id":77353,"date":"2024-01-31T11:51:33","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T17:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=77353"},"modified":"2024-01-31T11:51:35","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T17:51:35","slug":"porsch-wins-tigers-place-five","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=77353","title":{"rendered":"Porsch wins; Tigers place five"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LEAVENWORTH, Kan. &#8211; Seven members of the Fort Hays State Women&#8217;s Wrestling team competed unattached at the Spire Classic this past Friday (Jan. 26).\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/961cf053-8a35-4a41-ba51-8eb106e1000d?elinkdata=223969\">Marissa Porsch<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0was champion of the 170-pound weight class, while\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/38b669c0-8c86-420f-a3e6-1067c9bdc13e?elinkdata=223969\">Piper Cadden<\/a><\/dfn>,\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/83d6ba64-941e-45f4-91ad-1bac9e0a671d?elinkdata=223969\">Ashlynn Goodwin<\/a><\/dfn>,\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/782ac97b-a5be-4690-be02-0bbb31fde615?elinkdata=223969\">Gabby Hampton<\/a><\/dfn>, and\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/0bb8e1c1-f15e-4931-b791-2112f56e87fe?elinkdata=223969\">Lyndsey Buechman<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0all placed in their respective weight classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Porsch went 3-0 in the 170-pound class, scoring technical falls all the way through her tournament run. She surrendered just two points (12-2) to her quarterfinal opponent, Jocelyn Ambriz of Southeast Community College, the No. 6 ranked wrestler at the weight class in the NJCAA. She blanked her final two opponents by scores of 10-0 and 12-0. Her semifinal win was over Aime Hernandez-Perez of York University, the No. 12 ranked wrestler at the weight class in the NAIA, then knocked off unranked Jaclyn Daley of Baker University in the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cadden and Goodwin each placed second in their weight classes. Cadden went 3-1 in the 136-pound class, blanking her first three opponents with 10-0 tech falls before coming up short in a 10-6 decision against Madeline Barton of Quincy University in the finals. Goodwin also went 3-1 in the 143-pound class, scoring a fall and a pair of 10-0 tech falls to reach the finals where she lost by fall to Athena Wilden of William Jewell, the No. 3 ranked wrestler in the NCAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hampton picked up a fourth-place finish in the 116-pound class. She went 4-2 on the day, scoring a fall and a pair of 10-0 tech falls to reach the semifinals. She lost an 8-8 tie on criteria in the semifinals before scoring yet another 10-0 tech fall in the consolation semifinals, but then dropped her final match by tech fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buechman posted a 2-2 record on the day in the 191 class. She scored a forfeit win in a match where she had the lead, then won her fifth-place match by fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also competing in the tournament were&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/57c72cce-4ff6-48fa-a2b6-a601e4267f2a?elinkdata=223969\">Hannah Selle<\/a><\/dfn>(109) and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/ed9031bc-cf86-4f08-b9d2-21dddb9adc4d?elinkdata=223969\">Noelle Peters<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;(116).
