Schmidt Foundation scholarships to attend Fort Hays State University have been announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inaugural class of Schmidt Foundation\nScholars is comprised of Edwin Garcia-Arreola, Lakin; Bianca Bultman, Elkhart;\nMakenna Bartholomew, Gypsum; Julina Wall, Ingalls; and German Hernandez, Leoti.\nThose incoming freshmen will receive full-ride, $14,900 scholarships for the\n2021-22 school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those students\u2019 counselors, teachers,\ncoaches, or principals made arrangements with the FHSU Foundation last week for\na surprise announcement with the students via Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preference for these scholarships are\ngiven to first-generation students from Kansas planning to major in healthcare, education, business, entrepreneurship,\narts, or communication programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Schmidt Foundation\nscholarship includes 30 hours of tuition and fees for fall and spring courses,\nbooks, room and board.
