{"id":55985,"date":"2020-08-20T08:54:35","date_gmt":"2020-08-20T13:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=55985"},"modified":"2020-08-20T08:54:37","modified_gmt":"2020-08-20T13:54:37","slug":"%ef%bb%bffhsu-stripes-for-hope-student-organization-raises-money-for-st-jude-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=55985","title":{"rendered":"\ufeffFHSU Stripes for Hope student organization raises money for St. Jude Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fort Hays State University Stripes for Hope student organization made a significant donation to St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Jude, a\nnon-profit organization based in Memphis, Tenn., performs research about and\nprovides treatment for children who have been diagnosed with severe illnesses.\nAll care from St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital is provided to children\nfree of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FHSU Stripes\nfor Hope donated $3,500 to the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, the fundraising organization for St. Jude Children\u2019s\nResearch Hospital. They made the donation after a series of fundraising\nactivities and events, such as the sale of T-shirts during a \u201cNo More Cancer\u201d\nrally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Christopher\nOlds, faculty advisor for Stripes for Hope, said the efforts of FHSU Stripes\nfor Hope represent the civic-minded nature of FHSU students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFort Hays\nState University students both on-campus and online have a passion for helping\nothers and consistently make an effort to assist individuals who are in need,\u201d\nOlds said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He credits, in\nparticular, the efforts of students Itzel Mu\u00f1oz and Evelyn Irigoyen-Aguirre for\ncoordinating fundraising efforts that made the contribution to St. Jude\npossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To learn more\nabout FHSU Stripes for Hope, contact Olds at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:cpolds@fhsu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cpolds@fhsu.edu<\/a>.
