VICTORIA — Small towns all over Kansas have been creating some quarantine fun by dragging Main Streets for hours on end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young and old have been coming together to recreate the good ol\u2019 days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, Victoria put together a Drag Main Night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shannon Karst, who helped spread news of the event, got permission from the City of Victoria to have a night to strictly drag Main. She spread the word through social media and messages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The turnout was huge for the small town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of cars where honking horns and blaring music for hours. For many, it was a new experience that young kids have never been a part of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a new and cool experience,\u201d said Victoria High School junior Jason Karst. \u201cI have heard stories of people dragging Main back in the day, so it was cool to see what it was all about. It was a really fun way to get out of the house, and I will definitely do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many people of the Victoria community, it brought back memories of what they used to do for fun when they were younger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c(I) liked the fact that all ages were involved and that it cast aside a lot of concerns that people were having,\u201d said Jerry Brungardt, Victoria. \u201cDragging Main used to be an every weekend event in the \u201850s and \u201860s when I was younger, although there were \u2018refreshments\u2019 involved back then.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hays, Ellis, Victoria and many other small towns have brought back this tradition in hopes to have a fun, safe activity to help cure the boredom of many people due to staying home because of the spread of the coronavirus. The events provide an opportunity for residents to get out of their homes but still maintain safe social-distancing requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Main Street event in Hays on Friday night saw hundreds of cars worked their way through the downtown area, leaving traffic at a standstill at some points.
