Members of the community had the opportunity to participate in the Hays High Student Council (StuCo) Color Run\/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While participants were asked to pay a $10 registration fee, StuCo President Maddie Lohmeyer said the event was not organized to raise money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe money will be used on StuCo needs such as dances or events put on,\u201d Lohmeyer said. \u201cOverall, however, we weren\u2019t too focused on making a profit. Our goal was to provide an inexpensive way for the community to gather and have some fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Originally, this event was set for Aug. 24, but it had to be postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe hosted this event originally to kick of school,\u201d Lohmeyer said. \u201cWe had to cancel for the rain, so it was then intended to get the community in the spirit for homecoming week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Registration for the run began at 10:30 a.m., and the run began at 11:00, and the walk at 11:15. Participants could either walk or run two laps around the cross-country trail at Hays High. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOverall I think the people who attended had a fun time,\u201d Lohmeyer said. \u201cWe received positive feedback and already have ideas on how to improve the color run in the future. It was a beautiful day outside, and I really think it was an exciting way to kick off homecoming week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further homecoming festivities for Hays High include the parade on Friday at 5 p.m. with the Football game to follow at 7 p.m.
