{"id":46236,"date":"2019-07-22T14:58:30","date_gmt":"2019-07-22T19:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=46236"},"modified":"2019-07-22T14:58:35","modified_gmt":"2019-07-22T19:58:35","slug":"three-new-board-of-director-members-announced-at-annual-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=46236","title":{"rendered":"Three new board of director members announced at annual meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fort Hays State University Alumni Association Board of Directors has announced the addition of three new board members for the 2019-20 fiscal year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New members\nannounced at the June 8 board meeting in Hays were Dr. Kendall Krug, Hays; Eric\nNorris, Lawrence; and Mari Tucker, Topeka. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Krug, an\noptometrist, graduated from FHSU in 1983 with a bachelor\u2019s degree in general\nscience. He will serve a two-year term on the board and serve on the Awards and\nRecognition Committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Norris,\nlibrarian for the state of Kansas, received a Master of Arts degree in 2009\nfrom FHSU. He will serve on the Membership and Marketing Committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tucker, a\npartnership liaison for registered nurse education at the Washburn School of\nNursing, has earned two FHSU degrees, a Bachelor of Science in computer\ninformation systems in 1986 and a Master of Business Administration in\nmanagement in 1987. She will serve on the Finance and Operations Committee.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese highly\ntalented Fort Hays State alumni bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to\nthe FHSU Alumni Board of Directors,\u201d &nbsp;said DeBra Prideaux, executive\ndirector of alumni and governmental relations. \u201cWe are fortunate to have such\nexpertise added to an already talented board &nbsp;as we continue our\ncommitment to strengthen Fort Hays State University.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2019-20\nExecutive Council is comprised of Betty Johnson, Lawrence, board president;\nMike Koerner, Hays, vice president; Dr. Mike Slattery, Hays; Lance Tilton,\nChapman; Dr. Jennifer Brantley, Wichita; and Chelsey Ladd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johnson, a\n1980 FHSU graduate, received a bachelor\u2019s degree in communications. She is\npresident of Betty Johnson and Associates. This will be her second one-year\nterm as president. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Koerner,\noperations and systems manager for Eagle Communications, has two degrees from\nFHSU, a bachelor\u2019s degree in information networking and telecommunications,\n2000, and a master\u2019s degree in INT in 2005. He is vice president of the board\nand holds a position on the Finance and Operations Committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slattery is a\nretired FHSU professor of education administration. He received three degrees\nfrom FHSU: a 1973 B.S. in physical education, a 1977 M.S. in education\nadministration (secondary), and a 1989 Ed.S. in education administration\n(superintendent). He will serve as chair of the Awards and Recognition\nCommittee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tilton, market\npresident and ag\/commercial lender for Astra Bank, is serving as chair of the\nFinance and Operations Committee. He graduated from FHSU in 2009 with a\nbachelor\u2019s degree in marketing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brantley,\ndirector of Sedgwick County Research and Extension Center, will serve as chair\nof the Membership and Marketing Committee. She received a bachelor\u2019s degree in\nbiology from FHSU in 1993. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ladd will\nserve in an at-large position on the Executive Council and as a member of the\nMembership and Marketing Committee. Ladd is the manager of constituent services\nfor U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science\ndegree in organizational leadership and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political\nscience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other members\nof the board: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 &nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Leo Lake, Manhattan, retired educator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 &nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rob Schocke, Castle Rock, Colo., senior implementation\nanalyst for VISA Inc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 &nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Larry Daugherty, Russell, retired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 &nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dean Lavielle, Newton, retired high school principal.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 &nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Brooke Oleen Tieperman, Denver, program manager for the\nEnvironment, Energy and Transportation, National Conference of State\nLegislatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 &nbsp;\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dr. Doug Wright, Humboldt, clinical director of the\nSoutheast Kansas Mental Health Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brad DeMers,\nOsceola, Neb., president of the FHSU Student Government Association, will also\nserve on the board in an ex-officio position along with FHSU President Dr. Tisa\nMason, FHSU Athletic Director Curtis Hammeke, and Jason Williby, president and\nCEO of the FHSU Foundation \u2013 all of Hays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retiring board\nmembers were recognized for a combined 29 years of service: Cathy Domsch,\nAtwood; Angela Gaughan, Wichita; Mitch Hall, Harper; Denise Riedel, Overland\nPark; and Dave Voss, Colby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in\n1916, the Fort Hays State University Alumni Association serves the population\nof FHSU graduates by identifying needs and providing solutions. More than\n69,000 graduates live throughout the United States and approximately 77 foreign\ncountries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board sets\nthe policy and direction of the association in developing life-lolifelong\nrelationships between the university and alumni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Board\nnominations are accepted as positions become available.
