\n\nHAYS, Kan. \u2013 The National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association chapter in Fort Hays State University\u2019s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders earned Gold Chapter Honors, the only Kansas university to achieve this award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chapter earned this recognition by maintaining at least 30 percent of its membership within the chapter; participating in two or more community outreach activities; participating in two or more legislative advocacy activities; and fundraising $200 or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some notable activities included sponsoring the Ellis County Spelling Bee, sponsoring the annual Run\/Walk to Help Children Talk, organizing a book drive and donating $500 to the Hays Accessible Recreation Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Established in 1972, NSSLHA is the only national student organization for pre-professionals studying communication sciences and disorders recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. NSSLHA supports more than 13,400 members and more than 300 chapters at colleges and universities nationwide.
