On Tuesday, April 4, Fort Hays State University\u2019s Stripes for Hope will be hosting their annual letter sending party. The event will be held in Memorial Union. According to Stripes for Hope’s Executive Director Haydee Reyes, \u201cthe letter sending party is the organization\u2019s biggest event of the year. Stripes for Hope has raised thousands of dollars at the event in the past.\u201d Overall, Stripes for Hope has raised over $200,000 since 2009. All money the organization raises goes directly to St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital to help make sure families of patients don\u2019t have to pay for medical treatment and intensive care.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for the letter sending party, Stripes for Hope\u2019s goal is to have all participants bring 50 addresses of friends or family of people who would consider donating to St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital. Also, anyone who brings 50 addresses will receive a free t-shirt. Early registration deadlines have already passed, but volunteers are still needed to stamp all envelopes. Teams are also still able to sign up if they would like to participate in games held at the event. Furthermore, any time spent at the event will count toward community service hours. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the event, Stripes for Hope\u2019s Damion Cooper will be the Master of Ceremony. Additionally, free food will be offered, trivia will be held, and attendees will be able to listen to families of patients speak throughout the evening. Also, giveaways will occur throughout the night, sponsored by area businesses including Gella\u2019s, Cancun, and more. Some notable items being given away are a Keurig coffee maker, Beats headphones, charcoal grill, Kindle Fire, flat screen tv, digital camera, and more! <\/span><\/p>\n
